A note from the JBoss Portal Team:

User Guides (Target: End-Users/Administrators) covers operation of the portal.
Reference Guides (Target: Developers/Administrators) covers installation, developing and deploying portlets, create/deploy themes/layouts, using wsrp features, and leveraging the JBoss Portal API.

We normally recommend that you download all guides, and explore other resources as well:
